PIXMA MP150 Photo All-In-One

New Canon PIXMA MP150 Photo All-In-One Delivers High End Features for an Affordable Price

Jan. 4, 2006 New Canon All-In-One Printer Offers High Quality Photos, Home Office Functionality and Class-Leading Performance for Only $89.99(a)

The mark of a good multifunction printer is the ability to multitask. Along with having the ability to copy, scan, and quickly print great photos and text, Canon's new PIXMA MP150 Photo All-In-One has the added asset of being affordable at an estimated selling price of $89.99(a).

"The PIXMA MP150 Photo All-In-One offers a great combination of low cost and high functionality that will help more consumers understand the benefits of having an all-in-one device," said Yukiaki Hashimoto, senior vice president and general manager of the consumer imaging group at Canon U.S.A., Inc. "Now users can copy, scan, and print brilliant photos and clear documents at home with a device that would previously cost a lot more, but with our new PIXMA MP150 Photo All-In-One, affordability will make this machine more appealing to consumers."

Whether in the home office or the dorm room, parents and students alike can enjoy great photos, speedy printing and all of the convenience that an all-in-one machine offers. The PIXMA MP150 Photo All-In-One can print a borderless 4 x 6 inch photo in approximately 55 seconds(1), thanks to Canon's Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) print head technology utilizing 1,472 nozzles. Photos are printed at up to 4800 x 1200 dpi(2) in color with a class-leading ink droplet size as small as two picoliters to help provide crisp and clear image quality. The PIXMA MP150 Photo All-In-One also makes quick work of printing documents, at a maximum of 22(1) pages-per-minute (ppm) for monochrome and 17(1) ppm for color, making it one of the fastest all-in-one devices in its class.

The new model also includes a PictBridge port so users can print their photos directly without a computer from any PictBridge compatible digital camera or DV camcorder, which until now was an added convenience on more costly devices. The PIXMA MP150 Photo-All-In-One adds further value and functionality to the home office with the addition of high-end copy-friendly features. The "Fit to Page" setting enlarges or reduces a scan to fit loaded media. The "Borderless Copy" function allows the user to make edge-to-edge copies of borderless photos.

The PIXMA MP150 Photo All-In-One is a photo and document scanner that utilizes a high quality CIS scanning element that provides a maximum optical resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 dpi (19200 x 19200 dpi interpolated). The Advanced Z-Lid(TM) expansion top makes scanning thicker items, such as books, easier by lifting vertically to lie flat on the item being scanned for complete clean scans from edge to edge. Plus, the PIXMA MP150 Photo All-In-One utilizes a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed interface enabling faster image transfers and scanning speeds.(3)

The new sleek and compact design of the PIXMA MP150 Photo All-In-One brings together several desktop components into one easy-to-use machine. Ink installation is easy because of the improved cartridge loading system. The FINE cartridge allows for improved accuracy and ink level detection for consumers.

ChromaLife 100 System

The PIXMA MP150 Photo All-In-One uses Canon's ChromaLife 100 ink system, along with FINE print head technology for long lasting photo prints. When using select genuine Canon photo papers, prints can resist fading for up to 100 years when stored in an archival quality photo album. The 100-year-lifespan rivals that of many traditional film based photos, long considered by consumers to be the benchmark for image permanence. Prints produced on Canon Photo Paper Pro with ChromaLife100 inks have up to a ten-year gas fastness when exposed to open air. ChromaLife100 prints, when created using Canon Photo Paper Pro or Photo Paper Plus Glossy, have up to a 30-year light fastness when displayed under glass.(4)

FINE Engineering

Launched globally by Canon in 1999, the Canon FINE advanced print head technology is one of the keys to the impressive speed and high photo quality in PIXMA photo all-in-one printers. FINE uses a ground-breaking high-performance multi-nozzle print engine that ejects consistent and microscopic ink droplets. The results are high-resolution photos with great detail and clarity in less time.

The Canon PIMA MP150 Photo All-In-One printer will be available in January for an estimated selling price of 89.99(a).

New Canon Photo Paper Glossy

Canon is launching its third high gloss finish photo paper product with the introduction of Photo Paper Glossy, which provides outstanding quality while lowering the cost per print. The papers will be available in 50 and 100 sheet packs in both 4 x 6 inch and 8.5 x 11 inch sizes. Photo Paper Glossy presents another option for the consumer who wants to see high quality prints at an outstanding value. Available in early March, the Photo Paper Glossy will have an estimated selling price of $7.99 for the 4 x 6 inch 50 pack, $11.99 for the 4 x 6 inch 100 pack. The 8.5 x 11 inch size will be available in 50 and 100 sheet packs at an estimated selling price of $17.99 and $29.99, respectively.

(a) Estimated selling price. Price is subject to change at anytime without notice. Actual prices set by dealers and may vary.

(1).PPM print speeds are based on the highest speed printer driver mode. Photo print speeds are based on the default mode driver setting using Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy paper. Print speeds will vary depending on system configuration, interface, software, document complexity, print mode, types of paper used and page coverage. CPM copy speeds based on fast mode setting using plain paper. Copy speeds may vary based on document complexity, copy mode, page coverage and number of copies.

(2) Resolution may vary based on printer driver setting. Color ink droplets can be placed with a horizontal pitch of 1/4800 inch at minimum.

(3) USB 2.0 Hi-Speed requires Windows XP, 2000 or Mac OS X operating systems. For Windows 98, Me and Mac OS X v. 10.2 to 10.2.6 operating systems, the printer will operate at USB 1.1 specifications

(4) Results based on accelerated testing by Canon under controlled temperature, humidity, and gas conditions. For the 100-year figure, Canon simulated storage in an album with plastic sleeves. For the 30-year lightfastness figure, Canon simulated display of a photo in a glass frame in an indoor location without direct sunlight or other high intensity light. The 10-year gasfastness figure is based on a testing ratio of gases typical to indoor air composition (O3: NOx:SOx--3:19:1) with 100 times concentration in order to accelerate color fading. Canon cannot guarantee the longevity of prints; results may vary depending on printed image, drying time, display/storage conditions and environmental factors.
