Angry SmartMedia Disk

I have a Olympus D-400 digital camera bought around 1996. My daughter has used an Eminent USB 2.0 6-in-1 card reader to download pictures onto my PC. She accidentally format the pictures on SamrtMedia disk while the card reader was connect to the PC. Now the disk can not be used by the camera.

Does anyone know how to recover the disk? I don't want to spend another $40 to purchase a new disk.

Help!

Patrick

to reformat Smart Media

I have heard on the Oly Forum at dpreview.com that if you can find someone that has a Fuji camera, format the card in their camera....then it should work again in your camera. Sounds weird, but folks have tried it and it works.
Good luck!

Reformat Smartmedia, Olympus Camera

Thanks Lucy, I spent more than 10 hours on the internet tried to find an answer in vain. I have tried using www.szbroad.com/drivers/FLASHDOCTOR.EXE but got an error message - "Please plug in the specific reader".

I also tried www.vaiosoft.com/products/recoverymanager.html and ran the recovery manager but after formating my smartmedia disk with either "quick" or "full" option, it still did not work. I ran out of ideas. I will bring it into BestBuy and see if they can let me reformat my disk using one of their Fuji camera. Thanks for the suggestion. I 'll let you know what happen afterwards. Have a nice holiday.

Patrick
