Actually it was hidden at one point. then a couple people at work who follow my photography asked if I won anymore online contests, so I unhid it so they could see them

Just wanted to chime in - I've had no time to post lately, maybe I'll try one this coming week - but wanted to say that the hidden voting sounds great to me.

I post in POTW because that's the only way I can get comments! It's a great way to learn, and I think the "competition" generates more interest. If I ever win, or get into the finals, I'd be proud, but that's definitely not in my expectations. I just want to be a better photographer.

Also Ruth, your gallery is beautiful and you should definitely be proud of your accomplishments.

Don't you dare hide that gallery again. It's a crime for such wonderful work to be hidden from the world. I've just bookmarked it as one of my favourites. You are a superb photographer and should be very proud.

I started participating on this site for a few months, made it to the finals once or twice and actually won POTW once. Then I stopped participating.

I once posted that ALL voting AND the member's name be anonymous during the contest week, not just the Finals. So I certaintly think that having the Finals votes hidden is a good idea.

For me the scoring, voting and winning are just for entertainment value.... fun. They are not the reason I take photos nor the reason I post them on contest sites. Like everyone else, I like to see comments or reactions. But, like on most sites, I find that most comments are directed to the really good shots that everyone loves, and to members who know each other well.
