C-350 = C-560: Camera Locked Up: LEDs Flashing

My camera (3 ˝ years old) has failed. It stopped, and now won't close. When I move the cover right (as if to open), the red and green LEDs by the viewfinder flash alternately for 10 seconds. Nothing else happens. Removed batteries for > 5 mins; no change. It seems that the camera is still “live”. It tells me when the memory cover is open.
It was playing up yesterday; similar thing, but fixed by removing batts. Also, a couple of weeks ago, it told me the card was full, when it wasn't.

Any ideas ?
Is there a “Reset” button or combination ?
