black splotch in photo

I am using a Canon PowerShot G5 and I'm finding many of my images come out with a dark splotch on the bottom right hand corner. My setting is set to auto and this also happens almost always when I use a wide-angle lens. It happens less often with the regular lens. Flash is enabled and I’m usually in the house so lighting isn't as it would be outside on a sunny day. Is there a setting in the options turned on? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance
Cseawell

Cseawell,

It looks like your flash is dropping off. Try zooming in a little and this will probably take care of your problems. I have the Canon Powershot G3 and the flash is not the most powerful nor can it take ultra wide angle shots. When you shoot wide, the flash just can't cover the entire distance and you are getting the drop off. Also, if your flash is like mine, it's on the far left side of the camera and somtimes has the tendency to hit the lens slightly at which would cause the shadow at the bottom right side of the image.

If you had an external Canon Speedlite, you also wouldn't have this problem either because the flash would be off of the camera in this case and able to better cover the distances whether you were shooting wide or not.

I hope this helps you.
