why is this lens

only for video use?
couldn't i use it on my s5100 if i used a step up ring to go from the 55mm adapter to 58mm?

I would guess it doesn't give very good resolution. Video cameras don't need to resolve as much detail because a TV doesn't have as many lines as recorded by a camera. That would be my guess. I could be wrong.
