Camera Drivers
Idanr,
What is installed on your home computer? If it's Windows XP, then that's why your camera comes right up on the computer. Windows 2000 needs to have drivers installed for the Canon before it will work properly and recognize the camera as a removable drive. You should first install the CD you received with your camera and then try plugging in your camera. The Thinkpad should then find the drivers and everything should work fine.
You state that you already installed the drivers, but they didn't work. If the drivers are corrupt for some reason, you will need to be sure that you have un-installed them completely or you will have the same problem again.
Try going to Canon's site and see if there are newer drivers for your camera too as this might help. You can also send a note to Canon technical support as they are pretty helpful too.
