6MP Rebel vs Olympus E300

I have a choice to make buying a digital SLR. The choices are a digital rebel which is the 6mp version and the 8MP Olympus E300. I know people that have the Canon and are very happy with it. I would like any opinions on whether the Olympus is as good or better than the old Rebel. Thanks.

If it were my choice then it would most certainly be the E300 Olympus. It's more up to date and offers more features and also you get the extra 2MP resolution. The build quality is much better too. The 14-45 kit lense as far as kit lenses go is a very good lense compared with the rebel kit lense. The Zukio four thirds lenses that the e300 uses are superb although the selection is limited but growing all the time.

That said the rebel is a superb camera and produces great results. There are also a much wider selection of lenses available for the rebel. The rebel also handles noise a little better at higher ISO.

For me the Olympus wins here easily. Now if you were comparing it with the Canon350 XT then the choice would be much more difficult and I would probably go with the Canon.

Best advice I can give you is to go into a shop and try both cameras in you hand. Look through the veiwfinders and take a few shots with each. See which one feels best in your hand. You can't go wrong with either choice as they are both great cameras and capable of superb results.

Hope this helps

Matt

Question how about the 8 MB Pixel vs Olympus e-300

I looking at a 8 Mega Pixel Canon Rebel and an Olympus E-300. They are the same price ( $899).

The E-300 comes with 2 lenses and the canon rebel just come with single lens.

I need some suggestion, whict one is better? I am new to digital SLR.

Assuming you don't have any SLR lenses or flashes that would work on the Canon, the Oly would be quite tempting. But I have to ask-- what if you decide you want lenses other than the ones that come with it? Have you priced Zukio lenses? YIKES!!!

While I don't have a DSLR, the choice for me would be easy-- the Canon, as I already have Canon SLR equipment. Yes, I'm *still* one of "them"-- I still use this stuff called "film." But if I didn't have any such equipment, the Oly would be very tempting.

Do you have any Canon 35mm SLR equipment? If so, you're choice is easy.
