wide angle lens for D70

Hi all -

I'm a new member and had a question regarding lenses for the Nikon D70. I want to get a wide angle lens and not necessarily Nikon ones. Is it bad to go with other brands? I noticed that they are much cheaper. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good wide angle lens?

Also, I have to get one that says it's for the digital correct? Because I also noticed that the manual lenses were cheaper.

Do you think just getting the lens converter would work?

Thanks so much folks!

I have a Sigma 28-300 for my Fuji S2. Its optics are good but it's not great mechanically. But I am very happy with it.

Take a look at Lygor's shot at:

This is stunning and he used a Sigma 17-35.

I think getting a lens that is designed for digital is probably better but not necessary.

If you want to go with a manual lens make sure it won't hurt the camera. Check with Nikon.

My advice is to stay away from the converters.
