Stylus 500 flash problems

I have only had this camera about 2 months and for the last several weeks the flash will not work on it.

The camera has a "P" in the top left corner of the screen and also below that is a red flashing lightning bolt. It flashes the whole time the camera is on. I cannot seem to to get that to turn off, it never was on when I first got the camera.

The camera will take a picture without a flash, however it is very blurry.

I think if I could get the red flashing lightning bolt off it would probably take the picture, but for the life of me can't figure it out.

The advanced manual doesn't seem to help, either.

Can anyone help???

I'm having the same issue. The flash indicator flashes red. I contacted Olympus and was advised to send it in for service. It's such a pain, I decided to just drop it off at the service center (one of only two in the U.S.) in Cypress, CA... I don't get down that way often though so I've been limping along with no flash for a while now. Anyone else have any better luck?
