I am a total novice using my Sony Digital Camera however I have a very important assignment to complete and I'm not having any luck doing so. I need to know what adjustments to make to the camera or what additional equipment would be required to enable me to take good, clear photographs of framed art with glass while it is hanging on the wall without getting a reflection of myself or a glare. I would appreciate any suggestions you might offer. I am running out of time on this assignment.

Tricky project. The first thing I would look into is buying a polarizer for your camera. This will allow you to take pictures through glass by eliminating reflections. They do however slow your shutter speed down as well so a tripod will keep your camera steady and eliminate camera shake. Turn off your flash too and try and take the shots with the light as even as possible. If you can't screw a polarizer filter straight onto your lense then Cokin sell an bracket type setup which can be mounted on the camera body.
