Question about Powershot G5 lenses/filters.....

Hi, I just registered because I am seeking some help. I've had this camera for about a year now and I know in order to use the additional canon lenses with the G5 you need to get the adapter. I was wondering, if I were to get either the 52mm or the 58mm adapter, seen here:

www.lensmateonline.com/g3.html

would I be able to use ANY brand lens/filter that has a 52 or 58mm size?

I'd also like to ask what you think would be a better choice(the 52mm or 58mm adapter).

This is my first post, thanks in advance!

DEFINATELY go fo the 58mm adaptor. It will restrict your view though the view finder (But who uses that right?) and will restrict the internal flash, (which is easilly fixed by removing the adaptor when you go to use the internal flash) but the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. I have been using the 58MM for 2 years now. The 52mm will result in more vignetting with telephoto adaptor or reverse 55 mm lens macro type shots. I am not sure of the value of the wide angle as the G5/G3 (which I use) have a good panorama feature. I have looked into the telephoto lens a fair bit and even though I haven't bought one I would go for the Canon teleconverter. I haven't seen one as good even though there are some that do 2X's. I keep a UV filter and the 58MM attatched all the time. I find this protects the cameras lens both from dirt and dust and also from damage if accidently dropped. (This happened to me once and I put the adaptor on ASAP) A Circular poleriser is another thing I keep in the bag which is great for shots around water and glare. As to colour filters I wouldn't bother. Most of all that can be achieved as good or better in Photoshop. Hope this helps.
