Yeh, I have loads new shots to place on the site and a little bit of a design makeover to implement. Probably have it done within two weeks.
No problem
Simon

Hits per day did you ask? that would 125,000 per day but please read on
:: About BytePhoto.Com it officially opened on July 1st 2003 ::
Registered users is now at 1083 you can find that number near the top of the main forums page…... although looking at just the number of members would not give a true picture of the site traffic ….. You can visit http://www.alexa.com/ and get an independent traffic estimate for any site that’s ranked…..
Our alexia rank is here
http://info.alexa.com/data/details?....bytephoto.com/
Feel free to write a site review while you are there … as long as it’s a positive review
About your question of ‘hits’ … IMHO it is an often abused statistic…. used to make a site look busier then it actually is …..as one page view could generate a very high hit count as 1 hit = 1 file request so ever element / image on a page counts as a hit for instance the first 18 days of this month we had 2,298,446 hits ..Sounds wonderful but the reality is that it means little
- RVB please correct me if I described ‘hit’ wrong
Here are some current relevant stats for the first 140 days online here at BytePhoto
Page views – 1,951,992 yes thats almost two million.. Not bad for a brand new site … traffic is running at a pace of about 500 thousand pages a month.. And growing dramatically by the month
Gallery Stats – 503,943 photo views with 8,396 comments … so if you ever wondered do people look at my photos the answer is a huge yes
Here is another good one that I’m very proud of if you search Google for digital photo forums as of this writing we are # 14 out of about 1.5 million possibilities returned by Google .. and their are good number of search terms and phrases that we are gaining ground on as well ….
FYI it is RVB we have to thank for positive recognition from the search engines
Btw site stats are routinely included in the weekly news letter

Paul,
Thanks for your explaination.
You're right about the number of hits.
What I mean is the number of visitors (the number of pople who are actually accessing Bytephoto) per day.
The number of hits is depending on the page (or subject) like photo of the week, the different forums and so on.
BTW, Yes, I will do the site review (somewhere next week I guess and of course it will be positive) and how can I receive your weekly newsletter?

You will receive the newsletter to the email address you keep in your profile unless you have selected ‘not to receive email from admin’ in your user cp
As for how many visitors a day...... considering the very young age of the site ...... lets just say its doing well … and we appreciate very much all of the support that we receive from our members

Paul, your link was added to our forum sticky "help" thread here: http://www.popphoto.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=16796 as discussed back in July. I try to hang out here when I can and I always notice quite a few familiar names. Keep up the good work!

Tabatha,
Your participation here is always appreciated and I’m grateful for the link .. you should add the pop site to your profile and or signature after all you are a moderator their and you do a great job and although many members likely already recognize your user ID from POP… many that are new to digital cameras may not

Hmmm, I knew to this kind of thing and don't know what I'm doing! I'd like to add the micro button to my outlook signature and to my sig in another forum but have absolutely no idea how to do it. I can insert the text but not the button (gif). I'm trying to link directly to my gallery which should be http://www.bytephoto.com/photopost/...php?ppuser=3020
Can you plse offer any advice?
thanks
Paul

code: <a href="http://www.bytephoto.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=3020">BytePhoto</a>
The html code above will create a simple text link to your gallery
If that’s not what you need .. or the forum does not allow html code … let me know which forum you are trying to link to and I’ll go have a look and see what you need

Thanks Paul, I pased the link to my signature (www.photography-on-the.net) and it worked fine, but I was under the impression that you could use the button as the link? Either way, I can't seem to insert the button on it's own. I'm sure I could insert it as my avertar but I think that would be in bad taste on another forum . lol
Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
Paul
