Canon 17-85mm Lens Constraint

I purchased the Canon 17-85mm lens two weeks ago only to be told that the lens is on constraint and won't be available until June 23rd. Do any of you have this lens and was it hard to obtain when you purchased it? I'm trying to figure out why Canon is having such a tough time keeping these lenses in stock.

Thanks,

Ponder

Just check the seller feedback before you buy.

Lens

Leo,
Thanks for the information. Actually after I posted this note, the lens came, but I ended up refusing shipment, because I just couldn't see spending all that money at the time and ended up purchasing some other items that I really needed for my 20D like a wired cable release, the lens hood for my 100mm macro and actually purchased the 18-55mm kit lens for the time being. Some day I would like to purchase an L lens, but those are too expensive at this point too. Maybe someday I will check out eBay.

Have you had good luck purchasing camera equipment on eBay? I've never purchased anything from that site.

Dave

Hi Dave

Yes, I have purchased camera equipment off Ebay and had no problems, just make sure that you can pay for items you buy through PayPal and never by cheque or other type of payment as with PayPal you have some meens of redress if something goes wrong.

I have just purchased 2 L lenes 16-28 & 35-70 and they are brilliant

Check out the first two photos in my gallery, these where taken with those lenses

Brian
