Olympus master software problem

Can anyone help me with a problem with the olympus master software.

I have a new olympus c-7070 and a G4 imac with OSX. I installed the olympus software and connect camera as per instructions, a drive will appear on my desktop but when I launch olympus master it wont pick up any pictures. I can obviously drag the pics from the desktop drive into photoshop, but without the master software working all the money on 7 1gb XD cards are a waste as I want to stitch panaramic pics together.

I upgraded the software to 1.2 and checked camera firmware and this still wont work.

Can anyone help?

Much appreciated

Steve

Hi Steve,

If you can't get the pics from camera to Camedia directly, using Transfer Images, have you tried using Browse Images, locating the drive(which is the camera) and transferring them from there.
Another way is to move them from cam to a folder on the hard disc and work from there.
The panorama function works OK for me either way, but I do have a PC running XP.
Hope this helps.

thanks for the reply. Ive tried using browse images to the drive, but that didnt work. If I copy the images to my HD and then import them into Master it says they are transfered, but again nothing is displayed in master, no thumbnail, pictures or anything!

Hi again Steve,

If you've got them on the Hdd try the following:
Select Auto Pan in the Master Software, goto the media tab, browse to the folder containing the pics, and the thumbnails should appear in the lefthand window.

If this doesn't work, and you can open the pics in another window, then the only thing I can suggest is delete and reinstall Camedia Master, and try again.

Olympus Master

i had a problem getting my photos with the master software, and found that they were stored in a folder that was marked as hidden, or somthing like that, Well heres where they ended up.C:\Documents and Settings\myname\Application Data\OLYMPUS\OLYMPUS Master\store. The application data folder has to be set as readable, or viewable, if its marked as hidden, or any other way that you can't display it, you will not have access to your photos. I tried to change the default tranfer settings to download images, but with no luck, so i just go through the ropes of all these folders to deal with. Hope this helps.

You don't have to install or use the Olympus Master software to view or transfer images to your PC. In fact the Master software makes the whole process uneccesarily slow and complicated. Much easier if you ignore it altogether. Just connect the camera to the PC with USB cable and Windows will automatically detect the camera as a storage device with a new drive letter. Click on the drive letter in my computer and you will see a folder icon in a new window. This folder contains the pictures which are on the memory card in the camera. Or you can buy a card-reader and connect that to the PC instead of the camera --- again Windows will see the card reader and give it a new drive letter. Pop memory card into the reader and click on it's corresponding drive letter to open the contents of the card. Either way is much quicker and more intuitive than messing about with the Master software.

A friend of mine had the exact problem with his camera recently I referred him to a great tech support site that has live chat support that you can use for free...

Here is the page for Olympus c-7070 Support:

Good luck
