shanny1007,
I have both Olympus and Canon point and shoot cameras. The Olympus C-5050, and Canon SD500. Since the Canon is the newer of the cameras, I haven't had a lot of time to spend with it and take lots of pictures.
What I can say about the Canon over the Olympus is that the shutter-lag is not near as bad as the 5050. I have been disappointed with both the shutter-lag and auto-exposure settings of the 5050. I can take the very same picture twice - one right after the other - and get completely different results? I haven't been able to figure it out! The shutter-lag is dismal too.
On the other hand, the Canon takes perfectly exposed pictures and has virtually no shutter-lag. In addition, I have a 1gig San Disk Extreme II sd card in it and can take a series of shots very quickly. IMHO, it's far and away the better camera, but it lacks some manual control that the C-5050 does have. The SD500 is very small, very well-built, stylish and can easily fit in a pocket!
