Another Newbie Here
Hi! I just found this site, and am looking forward to getting to know everyone, join in some discussions, and particiating in the contests. Hope this is a friendly place; the other site I've frequented (which shall remain nameless) was mostly populated by pros (or wannabe pros!) who had no use for beginners.
I have always been interested in photography, and love art of all types. Last summer I purchased a Fuji Finepix S7000, and attended two 6 week courses with a local retired photographer. I learned a tremendous amount in his informal classes!
I had been bitten by the bug. I took pictures almost every day, and every day I learned something new. Unfortunately, where I live winters are very drab. We don't have much snow, there are no leaves except pine needles (boring!), so it's just ... blah. Spring is springing alive here now, though, and I'm anxious to get back out there. Our local town hosts a 10 day Cherry Blossom Festival that begins this Friday, so I'm really hoping to get some good photos over the next couple of weeks of festival activities, attendees, and things in bloom.
I'll get some photos over here soon, but in the meantime, if anyone would like to see some of my work, you can go here: http://photostor.com/BarefootCrone. Please feel free to leave comments there or here!

Actually I'm new to digital photography too. I even use a simple camera to shoot and I still recieve comments from old members of this site. I had no problem fitting in when I first joined . I'm sure it will be the same for you too. We're interested with other people's work so start posting. Welcome to Bytephoto!

hello to mntnbound
Hello - mntnbound - is this as in mountainbound?
Welcome!! Just a couple of tips, if you go to:
http://www.bytephoto.com/modules.ph...page&pid=12
It is verey helpful to get you started off right!!
Another suggestion, is to remember to give reasons for your ratings, and if you are tempted as a new member to jump in and rate a photo much lower or higher than other posts, maybe hang back for a while, watch, listen (read) and learn from others first.
Looking forward to those photos !!

Shootem, it is indeed for Mountain Bound! My job is ending in another year (plant closing), so I figured if I have to start over, it might as well be where I want to live! That's the plan, anyway!
Thanks for the suggestions, and I look forward to having some new photos to post here soon!
