Canon S1IS vs. Canon A95

I'm going to be buying my first digital camera, and I'm curious which one is a better one overall. I'm not new to using a camera, but I am new to using a digital camera, with the exception of borrowing my pal's Canon A75. I've been told the above cameras are both very nice, but I'm not sure what makes one better than the other. I've read a few reviews on each, but they both seem to get great reviews, so based on reviews alone, it's a difficult decision. Has anyone used both, or had experience with both, and can you dumb it down for those of us that aren't so digicam savvy?
