Weird Noise in Canon 20D when tilted?

Folks this is a basic question...

Just bought a Canon 20D and was excited to start shooting but when removed from the
box I noticed a sound like a "ball bearing" or lose parts making a noise when the camera is tilted right to left or up and down. The noise is much louder when the camera is lightly shaked.

An associate of mine has a 20D and his camera does not make this "lose" part noise. So I sent the 20D back to Retailer and they sent me another one... This one was even worse... Both cameras sound like they have lose parts in the body when the camera is tilted. So I went to Best Buy and the their camera did not make any noise either.... So I called Canon Tech Support and they said that their shouldn't be any noise like I am describing...

Any one else out there experience these sounds? Or do you think I just am unlucky in get 2 20D lemons... Thanks! T.

Most cameras nowadays have a "noise" when you tilt them and it's usally caused by a switch that tells the camera when you are taking a portrait shot. That way, when you view the pictures they are shown in the correct orientation. I don't know why your friend's doesn't though, maybe he's the one with the dud!

Hope it helps

Paul

Could be the lens if it's a USM.

No lenses attached...

I returned both camera bodies to B&H Photo and
bought another one via Onecall.com...

The new one also had the ball bearing sound when tilted but not as loud as others...

It is stange though that the older bodies.. meaning my associates and 2 of the display models in 2 different stores do not have the sound... I figure this has to be normal when I get 3 out of the box new and the sound is there...

maybe just alittle paranoid for 1st digital SLR...

Thanks for the comments...
