Mavica FD83
I have a question. When I first insert my Infolthium battery into the FD83 after charging it the camera screen shows the minutes left to use the battery (ex. 88 minutes). Then after taking maybe one picture the "no power" sign starts flashing and turns off the camera. I can switch the battery to my Sony Handycam and it has plenty of power. What can I do to get the Mavica FD83 camera to read the battery correctly and work like it is supposed to?

Sony uses what they call Info-Lithium batteries, that means that they put an extra chip in the battery to authenticate them as genuine Sony, and also control the life meter. These chips are constantly being updated to lock out 3rd party manufacturers. This is what is causing the problem with the shutdown, the info chip does work with the camcorder, but is not working with the camera. You might need to get another battery for the camera, I get all mine at sterlingtek.com .

still problems
I am still having problems with my FD83. I bought a new battery from Sterlingtek and the problem continues. I turn on the camera, the back screen comes up, it stays on for a minute then shuts itself off. The little sign of a battery and a line through it displays just before cut off. The battery is good cause I use it on my Sony Handycam and it runs fine and long.
