I've had my C-50 for almost 2 yrs. Now the little orange light is constantly flashing and the little flash icon always appears in the monitor window. I have gone through every screen trying to reset, but am not able to get rid of this. Now I cannot take a picture without mashing the button twice. Please help anyone??

Your first post explains the problem, but still leaves me not sure about the issue.

Are you saying no matter what lighting condition, the camera forces you to use the flash?

It could be a few things. One is could be your cameras meter reconizes you need assisted lighting to expose the image. Or you could have some how selected FORCED FLASH, which causes the flash to fire no matter what.

As far as mashing the button twice, I have never heard of that. Do you mean 1/2 press to focus and full press to take the image. Or do you actually mean you have to push the button twice to get it to fire?

You usually have some way to set the bias on the camera to allow for the light levels. Some cameras do it automatically only, some really basic ones just ignore it. I am not familiar with Your camera model, but if I try to shoot My C4000 with the exposure set too low, it will flash a light to tell Me to either use flash, or reset the exposure. You may have something in the menu that uses pictures of the sun, clouds, etc. That has to do with the white balance setting, but could effect Your exposure bias. Did You try just pulling the batteries yet? Factory default will be an exposure setting of 0.0, right in the middle. Stops go up and down, from +2 to -2 on most cameras.

thanks for the quick replies. I tried taking out the battery for awhile, but that darned orange flash just keeps beeping at me. I can only take pictures from a distance, when I am too close, the camera just won't take a picture, or if it does it is completely washed out. I read through the manual again and was able to find where you can push the flash button and the orange light will go out long enough to take a picture, However, when you turn the camera back on again at a later time, the orange light is back there again. maybe its time to visit the camera store. ugh.
