Better Picture - 10D or Rebel?

I was just wondering, do these two cameras basically offer the same picture quality? Do they have the same internal mechanisms for capturing pictures? I know there are more features on the 10D which in turn can play a big part of the overall image. But in viewing some sample photos on this site and others, it always seems the better quality pictures are coming from the 10D.

Your thoughts?

My guess would be that (not always) but majority of the time, 10D owners would tend to be more seasoned photographers and 300D users would tend to be more novice photographers. I think that a good photographer with a 300D can easily produce better images than a newbie with a 10D or 1Ds for that matter. I wouldn't make the judgement that the 10D produces better images unless you see the same exact image taken with each camera at the same time. The 2 camera's image quality should be close to identical under those identical circumstances.

From what I have read, the internals of the two cameras are similar, but not the same. The d300 had some changes to the sensor that was not done on the D10.

Not really sure if it was for quality reasons or cost, not one ever stated that in any of the documents I have read.

Again both cameas are amazing cameras that do a good job in the right hands. The biggest thing I would recommend is looking over the control features the D10 has over the D300. If you think you will be needing these features then theres your answer.

The D300 was made to be more of a budget DSLR. Dont get me wrong its an amazeing camera, but some features and controls were subtracted to take this price down.

I had a 300D for about 6months and sold it and got a 10D...here is what I wish someone would have made me do before bought my 300D: GO and hold both cameras, just pick them both up and see what you think. For me, the solid-build of the 10D is very important...But for someone who doesn't take as many photos or who doesn't take their camera EVERYWHERE they go (you'd be hard pressed to ever see me in public w/out my camera)...the 300D is a great unit. I really got some good images out of mine.... and with the 300D hack, you can get most of the custom functions of the 10D...so the biggest advantages of the 10D over the 300 for me were the build, the buffer size and the AI servo.

Go to a shop and hold both cameras..

Hi,

If you are looking to get the 10D, Wait until the 20D comes out next month. Or better yet add the 20D to your list of cameras to look at. I have decided to wait to get a DSLR. If I get the urge to change lenses and Look professional, I will drag out my SLR Film Camera. My P$S at 4 meg and 10x Zoom will do for now.
