POTW image size - reduction to finals
I have been submitting my images from 700 to 800 pixels wide. If I make it to the finals, they automatically get reduced to 600 pixels wide. I Noticed that the images loose a lot of their sharpness especially with wildlife images. Is it a good idea to resize your pic on saturday night if you are scoring high?
Kind Regards,
Rod

Hi Rod
We normally link the intermediate size image to the finals
Here are both versions of your wonderful ‘Juvenile Barred Owl in the wild’ photo and I agree that your case the larger image is superior
Intermediate

Full
The reason we use the intermediate is bandwidth considerations for those that don’t have broadband internet connections as depending on the size of the original a member uploads the file size can be quite large
I will look at the file sizes as I do photo of the week tonight and were appropriate based on the file size I’ll use the full size image … and we will see how it goes

Thank you Tim. I see landscape pictures doing quite well in the POTW so I am trying different things. I guess the best thing to do just post stunning pictures regardless...lol.

Paul,
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question. I noticed that you have changed the sizes of the images. Course I resized mine and probably could have left it alone. Maybe after this week you will have some feel on how the larger images are doing in the finals. I look forward to your thoughts on this.
Cheers, Rod
