Hello- I recently purchased a 2x telephoto lens for my F717 and I'm having a focus problem. It will focus great to about 25 feet but if I try to focus on anything far away -say about 30 yards- it will not focus. With the 2x lens on manual focus will not work either.
Anybody else have experience- good or bad- with a 2x please share your thoughts.

I will admit there are very few 2x lenses on the market that will work with the bigger zoom cameras such as the 717.

Alot of the 2x lenses on the market are made for smaller zoom cameras such as the 3X and 4X optics which are much smaller than the large lense on the 717 (diameter wise).

I would say that the lens you have is just not optically compatable with your camera. This is a common thing that happens with cheap optics and even some $$$ ones.

What lens is it? If your looking for a lense for the sony, Sony actually makes some very nice optics that run in the $200 range, if thats to much Olympus makes the TCON-17 which is around a $100 and is 1.7x that works nicely with that camera. But there are many more that will work, but I would recommend researching the top some since its talked about often on the net.

One thing you can try before giveing up is setting the camera to macro mode, many times this will help with some cheaper optics that have focusing problems.
