I just wanted to thank all of you for responding to my previous post in what I consider a positive way. Looking at the POTW page I notice almost all pictures have a rating and at least one comment. If you remember I noted earlier only 61% had any kind of rating and comments. I was a little hesitant to bring it up, not wanting to start a feud or appear to be a complainer or negative person. In reading the followup posts I didn't feel any hostility but rather more understanding. I'm one who is still learning (and aren't we all). May make this a retirement income business one day and without feedback (positive and negative) I wouldn't know 1/ if I was doing a great job or 2/ where I needed to put my learning efforts without the input of people who share my passion. That being said let me just say thanks again for accepting my criticism and reacting in a positive way which is all I wanted in the begining.

Just a little followup.

I feel that "rating" a photo is only accurate from the observers interest in what is presented.

I like Animals and Machines (strange combination huh?) So I tend to gravitate to those types of shots. I will ON OCCASION assign a rating to those two areas, that are submitted by others.

I generally try to make a constructive comment on certain photos that strike my eye. I will also respond to any requests for my opinion. I try to keep in mind the submitters experience levels, and read their DESCRIPTION info in the photo upload.

There are certain members who flood the POTW with entries every week. Good for them, but I don't subscribe to that philosophy.

I'm only one person in hundreds up here, and that is what keeps me humbled.
