Can't believe that there are no Canon digital people out there.

I am currently using my new EOS Digital rebel with the kit lens and the Lseries f4.5 100/400 IS super zoom.

Loving it !!

Used to have a Powershot s30 and kinda miss it still. Great little pocket camera !!

Hi,
I'm using a D-Rebel with the kit lense also. I also have recently aquired the 50mm and 85mm 1.8 lenses. I really like the 85 for walks in the woods with the dog. Also use my wifes 80-200mm zoom until I can get my 100-400 L IS. I hope to have this before drag racing season this year. Need to get the CC down a bit. Then I will go after the 28-135 IS.

Sounds familiar. That just might be your best all around lens.

I got my 100/400 primarily for shooting the grandsons Soccer games. There is a guy in his 40's at work who still races MotoCross and I am looking forward to getting some shots of him this year too.

Drag Racing? Oh, boy !!
I lived in Southern Calif. back in the 60's and my next door neighbor (Ed Peters) used to build engines for Dick Prudhomme and Tommy McKeown. I still love the smell of Nitro burning !!
I reckon the Lions Drag Strip (Long Beach) is just a memory now.

Throw some of your shots up on your gallery - don't worry about subject matter.

The 85mm is about right for the distance she likes to wonder from me. The 50mm I only used once with her, and it was too wide.

Super Chevy is coming near me in August. Definitely want the 100-400 by then. My bartenders boyfriend races in it. But would like to get out before then and practice getting shots, find out where to stand. I'll have to go to the tavern (oh darn ) and find out his schedule.

My photo computer is not on the web, I'll try to bring in some dog pics and post them. But first, I guess I should read the rules on posting.

Hi setiprime, We're out here and no mistake. I love my DRebel. Have a 'Kit ' lens a Canon 75-300mm IS USM lens and a Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens. Hope to be adding later. Just purchased a Battery Grip for the DRebel and a second battery, a great addition I might add and would recommend it.! See ya around, good shooting. [F.R.]

Wow-

I thought I was the only Rebel shooter on the site.

I did the same thing with the accessories. Here in Michigan, the winter cold really sucks the life out of batteries (sometimes it just sucks in general). The second battery gives me a little more secure feeling in sub zero conditions.

Just goes to show. It's cold here in Ontario too, we had another snow storm Wednesday. I'm just fed up with snow now, had enough. Give me some warm sunny days so that we can get about and take some pics. Take care. [F.R.]

Another D-Rebel user here. I am a) new to this site, and b) still trapped indoors in New England. Summer seems so far away and I am waiting to see if my camera takes color pictures!!

BTW -- too much battery grip talk here and other places -- one of you guys has to write me a permission slip so the governor will let me spend some money! never enough toys.

Well we got four of us up here yakking away and thats a good sign.

Between you and me - I'm not sure that you "need" the add on grip, unless you are in an intense shooting session. It is very nice for vertical shots, as the controls you need are in the 90° configuration. Its pricey but nice. It does add a little weight, some like that though. Swapping batts isn't always convenient either (missed shots at a game etc.)

As far as your "boss" is concerned you might try one or all of the following.

1) Say that it is a critical part of the "system" and you can't function properly without it. Besides, "everyone" has it.

2) On a shoot, other Photographers smirk and talk behind your back in a superior manner. This causes you much embarassment and affects the quality of your shots.

3) Flowers, dinner & dancing, Romance - then when she is softened up - strike like the real Dog you are!

I must tell you that in 34 years of marriage these have been only partially successful for me. Generally I whine and moan until she OK's it, just to get rid of me.

I once got a wide-screen Hi-Def TV through the following method. I started a renovation of the living room and kitchen but stopped short of finishing the details. She moaned about finishing it endlessly. Finally she said "If you can finish it by the big family gathering here in two weeks you can get your dumb TV". I had it done in 5 days and had the TV on the sixth. On the seventh day Jim rested -- again.

I like reason #2 and will probably stick with that. She likes some of my pics so #1 is out. Won't even try #3 -- tried that when I wanted the TV.

Have a better one.

My wife of 18 years is very understanding. When I wanted the D-Rebel, she said I deserved it and should get it. I agreed. After I purchased it, she wondered over to the camcorder section. She understands me OK, and is enjoying her new camcorder.

we are on the same boat where1!

I " upgrade from my Coolpix 995 to my 10D August last year. My wife did not object the purchase of camera + lenses + flash + a couple of bags....

Now she has her video camera + light + bag too!

We made an interesting couple everywhere we go: I takes hundresd of photos and she films everything!

This might be a gateway to help Newbies get started.

Re: where are all of the Canon shooters??

Hi,
I'v been using Canon cameras for almost 30 years now. Last year i bought my EOS 10d and am very happy with it. My only slip was a Nikon coolpix 990 (also a very nice camera). Since last year i've been buying several lenses. my 70-200 L /2.8 IS being my most favorit lens and second best the 17-40mm . there is only one lens i would still like to have, but i'v been using up most of my wife's
goodwill now, so the 24-70/2.8 L has to wait some more. Now i'm
waiting, like most of us, for some colours to return.
