Photo size
At the best resolution Computer monitors do not display higher than 96 or so ppi and a maximum of 800 pixels wide and 600 high is about as large as most monitors need them to be.
Important!!! do not alter your originals always make a smaller copy to post so that you can print the larger one later.
Once you reduce your resolution and size (in that order) see if your photoshop version has a save for web option if so use that option and save as a jpeg high which should not alter your picture too much and will make it fast to post.
One last thing after your image is resized I always give it a little sharpening. use Unsharp Mask at about 150 - 200 for the amount, radius 1.0 and 0 threshold.
Experiment and find what works best for you
