Took this today of a new sunspot that is apparently getting larger...it is an "M" class sunspot which can cause electromagnetic interference.

It has been so cloudy every night for the last two weeks, I just had to image something.

Scopetronix: Maxview 40 lens/adapter
Solar Filter and H-beta filter
Telescope: Televue NP101
Processing: Photoshop 7

I took a couple closeups.....I had clouds all day. I took probably a hundred shots and 90% of them have clouds . The filter was actually two filters...... A regular solar filter that usually leaves a gold looking sun...but I also used an H-beta filter....I was hoping to get the bandpass low enough to see the prominences.....but no good. The H-alpha filter that it takes if somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 to $2000.....not my neighborhood. I think I'll try tomorrow, if we get good weather (supposed to rain tonight) and I'll try for some really close in shots.


Here is the closeup.....I didn't try that hard to change the color in this one.
