Ice Dolphins
I took this during a winter festival on Erie's bayfront. I liked the sculpture and the way the light was. I intentionally put the sun behind the dolphins. I was blessed to get there at the right time. Canon EOS5, Sigma 28-105 f 2.8-4, Epson Perfection 1660 scanner, editing in PSP8.1. Comments welcome.

Lou,
Nice shot and placement of the sun....the only thing that is distracting to me is the overall "soft" look of the pic. Does PSP8 have a sharpening feature...something like USM? I think it would do the pic more justice to be sharpened just a tad.

Re: Ice Dolphins
I went back and tried a few adjustments...hope you don't mind...I just think it's better to show you what I meant...I also upped the saturation a bit and the 'depth' of the picture.

I oversaturated and oversharpened just a bit so that you could see the overall difference....I think something in the middle would be the best. Of course, it is all personal preference, but I think it gets rid of the "haze" look and puts more of a focus on the forefront objects.
what do you think.

Wow, thanks Bud. I like what you did. PSP has USM but I didn't use it enough. I did this either when I just got it or it may have been done in Adobe Photo Deluxe, a very cheap version of PS. I didn't like it at all. I got it with my printer I think. I couldn't afford the version 7 so I tried a few demos and ended up with PSP 8.1. I really like it! I think I'll look for the original and do some messing around with it again myself and see what I can do now that I've learned some stuff. Of course I still have tons more to learn! These programs are loaded!
