Ok anybody that was having the same issue as Bob or that has issue with unequal widths

This should do the trick the black outline is set at 20pixels as opposed to 3% which would cause problems if the image say 10 wide by 5 high as 3 % of 10 would make a border two times wider then the 3% times 5 would be

As for the issue Bob was having …..I made few small changes that may help ….


Bob your image the I D/L at DP ….saves as a BMP ….know that you have a jpg file …I’m not sure why a image hosted at pbase and displayed at dp does that when you save it….any way as I can’t be certain what the original at your end will do I would appreciate if you could d/l the action “for bob” and let me know if it resolved the problems at your end ….

Hi Paul:

I've decided to follow up this search for a solution to my problem on this site rather than on "Retouching"

I downloaded the "Bob" revision and find that the action still stops at the "Fill" steps (now I'm wondering if this is the way it's ment to be?) and the only way I can get the thin black frame and the shadow effect is to make both foreground and background black.

Paul, I'm a newbie to Photoshop and Digital but my involvement in photography goes back many, many years and I must say that this "High-tech stuff" has really kindled an old spark that I thought had long been extinguished

I sincerly appreciate the time and effort you and so many others have given to the enjoyment of this great hobby.

I'm using XP home edition and PS v7. As you may hve noticed, I can get the results offered by this action but have to take the extra steps at the "Fill" positions.

I had a great weekend ….I’m still in a quandary as to why that simple action did not function 100% for you as we have the same setup…
It’s not your file it is some variable that I did not consider when writing it I’m sure

Downloaded new set of Thin line Actions and find that I have same problem as I did with "Thin Line" As the action moves through it's various steps I observe the preset colors in the foreground and background change to white and black and I end up with a shadow but no thin line?? I also find that if I make both foreground and background the same color (black, red or whatever) I will get a line of that color as well as drop shadow.

I'm starting to think that there my be a glitch in my set up and also feel that I have used up more of your time than necessary as I like this Thin Line very much.
