2 x Convertor

Anyone out there used a tele convertor on the 300D yet? and if so what lenses have you used it with and what sort of results did you get. I am thinking of investing in one as I have a 75-200mm lens but isn't quite big enough, how would it work with that?
I am still seeking knowledge as a relative newbie so any advice would be most welcome.
Happy hunting.........Woody

I have not put any of these combos on a D300. But I did use a 2x on a EF 600mm @ f4 and a 500mm @ f4 on both the D60 and the D10. Over all results was good, not as perfect as I thought they should be, but still nice for that amount of magnification.

I was later told that the 1.4 was a much better match for the lenses I was useing.

Thanks for your reply....any reason why a 1.4 would have been a better match ?

I actually dont know why the guy told me the 1.4 was a better mate. I was working with a profession natural photographer that had a few setups on a outing and I aided him in the shooting of the even.

Again I knew about the equipment and setups, but he just told me that he found better results with the 1.4, but he never really stated why. If I get a chance I will see if I can contact him and ask why....

2X converter

the reason they recommend a 1.4 converter is that you lose only 1 f-stop. As for example on my 70-200mm f4 L lens on the rebel the f-stop would be instant 5.6. I personally have the rebel and the tamron 2X converter with ends taped and can autofocus but light needs to be super light to obtain focus lock or must use manual focus. Both work well on a tripod. The 1.4 converter autofocuses well but on your rebel with a 200 mm lens only give you a 300mm reach...Hope this helps.Works well for me on the rebel and good glass.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies..so I guess with a 2x I might lose 2 f stops, so in other words its bit of a cleft stick ie a rock and a hard place.
So as I understand it by losing 1 or even 2 f stops to obtain the same "parameters" as a prime lens I would have to reduce the TV to acheive the same results, and the possibility of adjusting the iso.
This is getting to complicated.
Thanks again
Woody
