Any Sony F717 Users?
I shoot with a Sony F717 and absolutely love it. Anymore F717/F707 Shooters out there on this site? I would love to see pictures from all the other F717 photographers. I love the intense colors that are captured with this camera. Some like a bit more subdued color look, but I favor the spark I can get with this camera. It's all in personal taste. The F717 can put out fabulous detail.
Have any great tricks, user tips you can share????

I was also amazed I did not see more 7X7 cameras on here. That has been a killer camera over the years. And I will admit that both 5mp cameras can hang even with todays best.
Nice camera, I used on for a while and really like it. But I was just looking for a few more features, and ended up getting married to my Fuji 602 instead of the 717.
But I to find the colors of the 717 to be nice...

I have been a Sony user for many years. Started with the Mavica, traded in for a DSC-F70 and now own the 707. I am thrilled with it's versatility and with the results.........although I am now considering the new Canon Rebel as i want to make the leap to Digital SLR

I also us the Sony DSC-717.. Great camera! May I ask JCW3 what features the 717 doesn't have you were looking for? It is a pretty full featured camera... I like it for the full manual controls

Yeah.. I think it needs a bit of post processing.. but I still like it... It is a bit noisey at 400 and up ISO IMHO.. atleast in comparison to a dSLR, even the Canon 300D.. But overall it is a great camera and really worth the $$ since the drop in prices IMHO.

My first digital was the Sony DSC-F707, and I loved it. My wife and I travel to the Caribbean every year and I have taken some stunning pictures with it. I found it's performance to be flawless. Now, I'm no professional, so some of the more advanced features were lost on me. I now have the F828, and am looking foward to taking it on vacation and taking even better pics. I've heard a lot of criticism of Sony digital cameras on other boards, but mostly from folks who don't own one. It kills me how folks think that what they choose to shoot with is the best and everything else is junk.

Macros.. lots of macros..hehe.. Try to shoot in one of the modes versus P&S.. will take a little to get used to but will get better results IMHO.Originally posted by Tony Ward

Deacon I think one of the big criticisms Sony is getting right now is due to the CA/PF problems of the F828.. It is a definite problem IMHO.. I looked at it as an upgrade for everything else except for Macros (keeping my F717 for those).. But decided on the Canon 300D.. Really needed the ability to change to larger lenses
I think Sony kinda has a slight mismatch between the lens and the sensor on the F828.. Because I have never seen Zeiss glass produce that high of CA/PF before.. I guess we will all find out if that si the case or if it is the actuall sensor being used when the Nikon 5800 (i think that right model) comes out as it uses same sensor as the F828.

IF any one is looking for a 717 or thinking about one, Circuit City just put them on sale for $473.
Great camera for that price!!!

SONY
Me and my boyfriend mostly shoot with our 717 and just love it but we are gonna go for Canon 20D because of the whole lense system and all kind of small stuff. Most of the pics are taken on our 717 at http://www.js.smugmug.com but some on our T1 - my boyfriend is a Sony-freak
But we will defenitely use our 717 although we got the 20D.

Olympus TCON-17
RockBruise,
Sony makes some nice ones themselves but they can be quite spendy, I went with a cheaper but still good quality alternative from Olympus, the TCON-17 (1.7X Teleconversion). You will need a 58mm to 55mm STEP DOWN ring adapter (very cheap). I checked on B&H they have the TCON-17 for $99.99 you may even find it cheaper elsewhere. The step down ring is usually $10-15.Canon 20D
