dsc w150 help on resolution please

    Hi All
I really hope some of you can help me.
i bought a sony cybershot dsc w 150 for my wife at christmas and have never really been impressed with the picture quality. It has been set at the 8mb resolution but have also tried it on the hdtv setting and to be honest i cant see any difference in quality. What is the best quality picture setting i should use i am viewing on a panasonic hdtv and a pc.
At the moment my cheap kodak easyshare gives a crystal picture and i feel quite deflated about the sony.I must be doing something wrong but what....
    Pleez help

Lee, my guess would be that with the Image Stabilization it's putting it at the high end of the ISO range - e.g. 3200 instead of down the 80-400 end where you'd get the best pictures. I don't know that camera but see it has a 'high sensitivity setting which would up that ISO possibly introducing more noise. This site goes through a lot of it's features, maybe something will jump out at you.

    Good luck.

    Hi Again
well after a bit of research i think i may have found the problem and your all going to laugh at this.It seems the cable supplied is not for hd transfer and i need the opttional hd cable which has 5 phono type connectors on one end what i dont understand is my 1080p hd tv only has hdmi sockets and 3 phono type inputs red yellow and white what does the optional lead have 5.If i cant use this it does have a sd card reader but sony use memory stck pro will and adaptor to sd give me the hd.
    Hope you can help
    Thanks Lee

If your TV has an SD slot and can display Jpeg images stored on removable media then the adapter should allow you to view pictures, but you may not see them in their full detail if they are taken at a resolution greater than that of the TV screen.
What you will get is a software zoom out which in many cases can look pretty poor.
You will only really be able to view hi res pictures in detail, on a pc with a hi res monitor.
I would not judge the camera on what you see via the TV output. as low res pictures often look much better than hi res pictures, the reality is that a TV just can't display the detail.
