Sony dcr-hc21 and hc65 - one tape - two broken cameras. I am livid

When putting in a tape in my sony dcr-hc65, I recieved a beeping error, which was accompanied by the "reisnert the casset" error. I thought it was the tape, no big deal, tried many different tapes but still got that error. Now I noticed that when I put tapes in my camera, the mechanics of it going in the camera seemed very abnormal, the sound was very suspect. I thought I dropped it without knowing it, I had no idea what the problem was and I had a project that I needed to finish. So I borrowed someone elses camera, the hc-21 put the tape in, and now that camera is screwed up. I GET THE EXACT SAME ERROR PROBLEMS AND MECHANICAL SCREWYNESS WHEN I INSERT TAPES. I think it's one particular tape that keeps doing it, I had no idea a simple tape would ruin a camera. I now I have 2 screwed cameras, one that isn't mine. I called tech support, tried all there suggestions and nothing. I am just stressed and pissed beyond belief, considering I have to try and explain to my friend how his camera got screwed in my possesion, from just putting a tape in! ANY SUGGESTIONS>???

    Dcr-hc21

I have a hc21 camera that is also screwed up. Last week I bought some new tapes,(sony premium) sent my wife to tape a childs program and everything worked fine. I was dubbing to a dvd recorder and the tape sounded weird when fast forwarding. Now it tells me to take tape out with code c31:22. The mechanism binds when taking the tape out, I have to gently help pull it out...I can play the tape through and it works though. Starting to see some dropout in the counter when i fast forward also. Tried another tape and fast forwarded. That tape has problems now. It seems to be at the end. And if I open up the tape and look at it one side is kinda tore up.. Have you figured out anything with yours yet..... Sony just wants it sent in... I am still under warranty, (parts) but they want $129 flat rate to fix it !!! I bought it through Crutchfield.. They dont want to have anything to do with it....What a rip..... The camcorder really isnt as good as I thought it would be and I sure am not going to put any more money in it... I ordered some new tapes and a cleaner.... Probably wont fix it from what I'm told but I can hope...
    Thanks
    Bill
