    Lens shutter problem

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-W1 and I have noticed the shutters in the lens are slightly open in a V shape.
So if I take a picture without adjusting the Zoom the top left and bottom right corners are blacked out.
The only way I can take a picture without this happening is to increase the zoom to about 2.
I do not know much about camera's and would like advice on this.
    Thanks
    wallie

Sounds like it is broken, i would take it to a engineer, or the store you bought it from. Maybe claim a new one on warrenty???
