the day this was announced, I spent about 4-5 hours reading previews and also forums.... although I am using a Nikon 4500, the stuff I read about this camera is simply amazing. Well done Sony. I hope Nikon does something like that to inject something into my boring life...

    (anticipating the pics samples eagerly)

i just asked one of my friends....

and he says the eos 300d...

but then again, he IS being biased.

i'm sure both of them will turn out to be great cameras though, and either of them will be great choices...however as stated before...there is no info on the noise so far.

in the end i'm betting that it will just turn out to be personal preference to decide which one to buy.

I shoot Canon and always have but I was interested in wheter the 8 MP in the Sony was as good as the 6.3 in the Canon compared to sensor sizes. I have always wanted an DSLR but worry about dust problems. The Sony with its fixed lense wouldn't have this problem. Hard choice to make!
