how to take CLOSE shots with p-10
hello, i'm new to this forum and i have a question.. I have a sony p-10 and want to take close/detailed photo with it. I'm having problems focusing the camera for very close shot pictures. the camera doesn't want to lock on to the item that i'm taking photo of. What do i need to do to take close shot pictures with this camera? any suggestions would be great. oh yeah, anyone have this problems with p-10? my friend dropped my camera and now the camera takes it's sweet time turning on. sometimes, when it's cold, it doesn't even turn on because the lense part where it moves is like stuck. it comes out and goes back in etc... is this a common problem?

Your camera is only capable of focusing on this more than 10cm from the lens
(Macro mode is turned on or off with the right arrow. In Macro mode the P10 can focus on a subject 10cm (3.9 inches) from the lens when the zoom is at the wide angle position, and 60cm (23.4 inches) at the maximum telephoto setting. )
As it is 5mp, your best bet is to take the picture 10cm or more from the object with macro mode set (the little flower icon on the bottom right of screen and left of buttons)
The use adobe photoshop to zoom ibn the detail as necessary and crop to your desired size.
Hope that helps or makes sense.

do you think sony p10 is just not capable of taking VERY close macro shots? I was looking at someone's picture that they took with canon s40(4mp) camera and i was blown away. It took a macro shot of a penny and it was able to take it soooooooo close with so much detail. The person didn't use any other lense with the camera except for the lense that came with it. I was trying to do the same with p10 and didn't even come close

really yes i do, the trick is, taking the picture from 10cm or more, in macro mode, then because it high detailed 5mp, using adobe photoshop, to zoom in, and cut to size. this is probably what they did, 60% photo 40% editing
remember if your closer than 10cm the camera will struggle to focus sharply.
