DSC-P10 Close-up Photography

Hey everyone-

I'm getting pretty frustrated because i don't know how to get perfect focus on my close up shots. for example i was trying to take a picture of my toe nail up close, and it would not focus. driving me up the wall because personally i think all the good photos are up close and personal, with tons of detail.

please help me somebody, the damn instruction booklet is useless.

That camera as well as many other similar cameras focus off of contrast, so make sure your subject is lighted well and there is enough contrast for the AF to lock focus. If all else does not work, then use manual focus, but if the contrast is there the camera will lock.

Also if your using auto focus, then make sure you have your camera set to macro, so it knows to focus close enough.

The little Sony 10 is ok for macro work, but its not going to nock your socks off.

The minumal focusing is about 3.9" when at a wide angle setting, its going to be even farther when your using the zoom. So at the best the little 10 will capture a closeup about the size of an average-size minimum area of 3.72 x 2.79 inches (94 x 71 millimeters). So thats about as close as you can get...

But dont forget DOF, so you may want to adjust that to achive a effective look.
