    Question Difficulty photographing red....

I have a DSC S85 and a F717 and I have difficulties photographing red subjects such as flowers. Often times they appear to "glow" and the details are lost. I can somewhat correct it by turning the saturation down but then this affects the entire image.

What am I doing wrong and how can I correct this?

    Unhappy .

I have the same problem while trying to do macro's of my red flowers.
Sometimes they turn out more pinkish than the red that they are. Hopefully someone can help us both lol

MWPhotos that is something more with the sony than you. Sonys in the past (717 and older) tend to over-saturate there images greatly.

Most of the time when takeing everyday images and senics this adds a nice effect, but its not natural. As you stated you can turn down the saturation and then fix it later, but that about the only work around I know.

The 707 really had major oversaturation problems, but most where repaired. But even with that being said, the 717 still gives off more staturation than most cameras out of the box.

rct4905, I am really not sure what your issue could be. If you have a link, maybe that would help. But it could just be the way your camera is metering the photo. I would try using a exposure compensation of -0.3 or -0.7 to see if that makes a differance. Also you can go into your menu and change the saturation level. I personally find the C-7xx series to do nice jobs with colors, actually one of the most accurate in the price range.
