Why subject is outlined when printed

    Help,

I use a Sony PSC-10, adobe photoshop 2.0 and a HP 6110 printer. When I print a 4X6, colored outlines occur around the subjects. This has only happened with indoor shots so far. The image is taken at 5 mp set at best quality. Adobe is set at 4.5X6 size, 200-500 ppi and the printer is set at best quality (not on 4800 DPI), 4X6 borderless and premium photo paper.

Am I missing something. What ppi/dpi should I be at on a 4X6 print?

    Thanks.

    t7200es,
Are you using hp brand inks and papers specified for your model printer ?.... and can you scan and post one of your prints

    Plarson,

Thanks for the reply, I am using the basic color and the upgraded photo color cartridges along with HP 4X6 premium gloss photo paper with tab. The photo prints perfectly on the paper and the colors look great, it just seems that the saoftware or the computer tells the printer to fill in the shaded areas or edges of the subject with a completely different color.

One example that I will try to scan and post is a picture of santa at the local store. The outer edge of his white beard is clear against his red coat, but in between the white and red, the printed picture shows a very blocky pixel of blue.

Another example is a picture of my wife and I in front of the Xmas tree. The dark area under my collar and next to my neck where the light and flash did not penetrate should be black or very dark in color. Instead it shows a very distinct bright shade of green and again is very blocky with large pixels.

I will try to post later tonight or tomorrow.

    Thanks again.
