    getting a new camera...soon

RIP my Fujifilm 2600 Zoom - it was dropped for the last time, and is no longer in use - over 8000 pictures taken with it, and it's time to get a new one.

I'm looking at a FujiFilm S3000 - has a couple features i'm really interested in - the minimal lapse between shots ( for taking sequential pictures, very fast as in action photos ) and full manual mode.

I'd like a camera that can take about 3-10 pictures per second on demand and very fast when needed.

I photograph racecars - American LeMans and SPEED World Challenge - passing me at 180-200 mph, I need to get these pic's fast and clear - and I've been ahead of my equipment, and I need equipment better than me - so that I don't exceed it when using it - instead of me being better than the equipment, yet again.

gimme feedback. budget is about $300.00 nothing more.

    Hi,

You might want to up your budget a little. Go for the Fuji 5000. The last price I saw was around $375.00. But you would be getting a 10X optical zoom and I think the lens adapter comes with it for adding lenses and filters. I have the Kodak Dx6490, But You are talking anther $200.00 over your budget. Just a thought from me.

oh yes - that one - the FujiFilm S-5000 - what a beautiful thing.

actually, on Thursday, I bought a FujiFilm S-3000 - comes with the 6x optical, for $225.00 - U.S. version. They say some photog's can take up to 40 pictures in 1 second - or 40 frames - not sure if I can ever do that, but I'm hoping for 15 per second if possible.

I'll begin my plan to take over the world starting Tuesday, when it comes in.
