Thinkingtod I Ύm sorry that you feel that way BytePhoto is relatively new and has made tremendous progress its first 150 days online .. I Ύm not sure how you can say there is no interest as I have seen members trying to help you in other threads .. as for why I don Ύt participate or comment in something Ύs such as POTW I feel that it would be a conflict of interest to be both in charge of the weekly contest and voice an opinion on the entries .. I think if you read the stats in your news letter you will find that this site is already well ahead of many twice its age ¦
I Ύd like to hear what you feel the site needs as all of the member Ύs opinions are important in shaping the future of the site ¦also there is no need to spam all of the other forums with this same topic ¦ as I said if you would like to provide constructive criticism please do so ..Best Regards,
Steve

Agree with you! However, myself and several others used to write here, but due to the aggresive atitude here, many have moved on. Names like "Redshoegirl, mpaul73, Dugster (???) etc, come to mind. After iniating a thread on this very subject, people jumping ship, I was personally accused by " MiseryMaiden" of taking over the group, so as a consequence, I ceased contributing both photos and comments. I still pop back occasionally to view the photos, but until this post, that's my total contribution. Nice to see the group going from strength to strength though.
You are a good photographer and capable of giving useful critiques ¦ but I do find it dismaying that you say there is an aggressive attitude here that keeps you from participating yet you continue to intentionally do things such as misspelling Ή¦misty maiden Ύ as Ή¦MiseryMaiden Ύ is that not it self a request for a confrontation ? as for people coming and going from the site that is the nature of the internet in general ¦ most people are lurkers not participants ¦ even as young is BytePhoto is we already have well over a thousand visitors each day ¦and only small fraction ever interact with others .. This is the norm for the internet
People come and go.. Some are even chased off by something as simple as your type of name calling ¦
as I said you are capable of being a valued member ¦.But I fail to see any Ή¦constructive Ύ reason you replied to this thread?
If you have constructive ideas I Ύd love to hear them
Feel free to PM me or email me directly paul@bytephoto.com if you would preferBest Regards,
Steve

I must agree with Paul. I'm a member since the first of november and I haven't seen any agression in any of the threads.
The fact that this is a new site results in low (but growing) activity. We (the members) can make this site much more active by making contributions and comments.
So be patient and make your contributions in a contructive way and don't feel offended when there are no reactions to your threads.
Thanks to Paul and Steven, this site is still my favorite site.

For the most part, the people here are nice people that accept constructive criticism well. It's the very few that have problems accepting criticism that leave a sour taste for some of us. Unfortunately, the bad seem to stand out more than all of the great people here.
As far as I'm concerned, this is still a great place. I just wish I had more time to spend here. Once school started, things got a bit hectic.
To all the lurkers out there, PLEASE JOIN IN! We'll try not to bite:-)

Well i suppose I could be concidered a lurker. I have only been around a few weeks so far. This is the first time I have posted. I heard about this site from another forum I partisipate in. So far it looks like a nice place to hang out.
I did create a gallery and posted a few pictures. I think I'm going to enjoy this place.
Thanks,

plarson is quite correct in stating that site staff should not comment on contest entries since they are running the contest. as far as some of this other stuff goes, it's before my time. i will however make a few observations......
1. most people participating in these types of forums do far more reading than posting.
2. people should be able to accept constructive criticism as long as it's given with the intention of helping people learn and improve their photography.
3. having a disagreement with fellow members is no reason to take your ball and go home.

Well I will agree that there is a lack of communication at times, but I have seen the POTW page go crazy. I have often seen comments an photos being rotated and replyed to so fast that I could not even keep up. So the attivity is here, just not all the time.
As for your comment on not being and active place, have you did your part. Well I am sure we have all did our part, but I mean have you tried to introduce fellow friends and co-workers to join, have you increased your comments to others? If so thats great, every little bit helps. Again the more we all give a hand the better this will be.
As for being hostile, I feel this is a very easy going and friendly place. Actually one of the better run and maintained ones on the net even though its small and new.
I know the first week or two I found the site (a friend "autumnsky" posted in another forum) I only watched and read. I felt as the new guy, so I just watched and took it in how the over all group reacted to photos and stuff.
The next week I spent about 30 mins every day or two watching and reading, but only replyed a time or two.
Well the third week I felt more at home and it was my goal to boost comments and get other members to do the same. I know for a while I was a lone ranger on LONG post, but for the last week or so I have been seeing alot more.
Little things like allowing other readers to read an see how effective and hopeful a constructive comment can be may intreage them to do the same. So set and example and see if they follow.
As for me I now put numerous hours watching, comment, and talking to others about this site. Why, because I like it and I want to improved it.
Just think we have a 1000 visiters a week. If every visiter would only post 1 pic in the POTW, we would never be able to read or see them all. So be glad with the active group we have now. I find smaller, friendly, and active groups such as this to be nice.
