Arizona & New Mexico trip
Hi everyone
Im heading over to your neck of the wood from mid November for a couple of weeks....flying into Phoenix and then going to do a roadtrip via Tucson, Juarez, White Sands and back to Phoenix.
Any suggestions on must shoots?
Cheers
Dennis

I would think Sedona area would be a great spot. I was there back around 2001. Of course Grand Canyon is a must see. Its a 3hour or so drive from Tucson, but since you will be coming from Australia, the drive from Tuscon to Grand Canyon is nothing

Thanks Ruth.....have put Sedona on the list
Did the Grand Canyon last time so thinking of other places this time. Am interested in some slot canyons but I hear Antelope is too popular these days for serious photography

what is the slot canyon that only allows 50 or so visitors a day?

The Wave is in fact the place that only allows 50 visitors a day and you need to register for a permit with the BLM. Of course, this is a good time of year to go due to lower temperatures. Antelope Canyon outside of Page, AZ is definitely a great photo op. The Upper Canyon requires a guided photography tour that lasts about 2 1/2 hours, $50. The lower canyon is also $50, but if you show them a tripod you can get a photographers pass and they will allow you to go by yourself without a guide and you can stay 4 hours. I stayed 6 hours and no one hassled me. Horseshoe Bend is a couple miles down the road and a very short, easy 1 mile hike. While you're up that far North, head over to Monument Valley. Sunset is spectacular. Do yourself a favor; buy a copy of "Photographing the Southwest" the Arizona edition by Laurent Martes its about $18 on Amazon. Its the bible for the southwest with directions, photos and best times of day advice. Enjoy. PM me if you have any questions.
