    Stolen photos, check for yours

This link is going around on other websites so I thought I would post it here.
So Far, I only found one of Andrew's "Shaggydo"

I would search by your user names and also your real names to see what you might find.

http://tineye.com/ actually searches by content. You can upload a photo from your hard drive or select one by URL. It will search over 1 billion photos on the net for comparisons. This is a free service.

    Ruth-

Stealing has always been a problem. I left BetterPhoto because someone posted a photo of mine on it and BetterPhoto refused to do anything about it. I now watermark every photo and include a copyright in the EXIF. There is no safe protection. And even if you do find a stolen photo, you can't do much except, perhaps, get it removed. Stealing photos is almost as common as stealing music or videos. It seems like digital content doesn't real matter.

I'm shocked that Betterphoto would not have your picture removed.
They did remove an account of at least 2 users I know about that were claiming to be owners of other work not theirs.

Thanks Ruth! I've found several of mine that I've had to have removed. Pixdaus just removed one I found last week. Another was found by a magazine reader that had spotted one of my prizewinning shots with NC Wildlife, in a powerpoint presentation. After doing a bit of searching, I found the site and was able to file the complaint and have it removed.

Another way to find out if your pictures are popping up else where is to google your screen name or name.

glad you were able to spot your work and have it removed Ellen.
People seem to think its ok to takes others photos. Once your photo goes out onto the internet without your name, it becomes a free for all and you never know where it might end up. I've heard people found their pictures being sold on different products.
