Would you go to this extreme?
Is this really worth getting the shot? I don't think I have the "cajones" to do this just for a shot of the Grand Canyon. How about you?

I've seen this shot before. I remember noticing, he looks like he is wearing sandals.

I would be more worried about breaking my camera/lens than getting hurt. Or maybe not.....

The jump looks Photoshopped to me.
He was probably put on the rock via helicopter, but even so I don't think I'd do it.

As I've aged my willingness to do attempt blindly optimistic stunts has withered, but we don't really know if this is a death defying leap or not and truthfully a bit of research proves it isn't death defying although it is still a tad foolhardy. Here's the link for anyone that would like to see what lies below our intrepid photographer, http://graphics2.snopes.com/photos/n...uck5_small.jpg

crumbs.... on closer inspection i'd say it has to be photoshopped. i dont believe it physically possible for anyone to make that leap and hold onto the rockface with a single arm let alone carry camera equipment in the other. doesn't wash.
this is dare devil moi 20 odd years ago - dont think i'd get that close to the edge now - didn't give it a second thought back then.

Apparently the link I posted earlier isn't working correctly now. Here is (hopefully) a link that shows exactly what was below this slightly foolhardy photographer, http://www.snopes.com/photos/natural/canyonleap.asp
