Santa baby....about that new D3x
This came from a female friend of another site... I thought it was so well done I decided to share it with my friends at byte.
Enjoy and hum along:
Santa baby, slip a Nikon under the tree, for me,
I've been an awful good girl, Santa baby,
so hurry down the chimney tonight.
Santa baby, a 14-to-24 too, light blue,
I'll wait up for you dear, Santa baby,
so hurry down the chimney tonight.
Think of all the fun I've missed.
Think of all the fellas that I haven't kissed.
Next year I could be oh so good,
If you'd check off my Christmas list.
Boo boop bee doo...
Santa honey, about that Sachtler tripod, just nod,
I've been an angel all year, Santa honey,
so hurry down the chimney tonight.
Santa cutie, there's one thing I really do need, the speed,
of that new 50-mm, Santa cutie,
so hurry down the chimney tonight.
Santa baby, fill my stocking with a D3X, and checks
Sign your 'X' on the line, Santa baby,
and hurry down the chimney tonight.
Come and trim my Christmas tree
With lotsa stash bought at B&H.
I really do believe in you --
Let's see if you believe in me too.
Boo boop bee doo...
Santa baby, almost forgot a new card,
won't be too hard, Santa baby,
so hurry down the chimney tonight.
Hurry down the chimney tonight.
Hurry down the chimney tonight.Last edited by JoeMc; Dec 22nd, 2008 at 08:38 PM.

In my dreamssssss ..... Bj’*‚„’‚‚¸rn's early testing sure is looking good.... Gotta sell, gotta sell, gotta sell lot's more photographs.... Jeepers, think of the detail in a 20x30 print.... or 30x40....

As Cheech Marin would say, "A lttle bit of megapixel dust for the D3x... a little bit more of megapixel dust for the D3x...
Now's the time to talk about your New Year's Resolution, eh?

ermmmm.... 24.5....
But.... that leads to needing a bigger printer. I can only go 20x30 now.... (actually 24x? but need large borders) PLUS memory, memory, memory.... HUGE CF cards.... Oh well.....Carolyn

Darren, You crack me up....lol
Carolyn, Me and you had conversations about this camera a year ago... They are calling it a "studio camera" But I think it is a landscape photographers dream...... I have read that it performs best at ISO 100 and is not the best on noise at higher ISO...but for studio and LANDSCAPE.....Who cares...lol

It IS a studio/Landscape camera. Don't need high ISO.... heck until 1 year ago, we didn't HAVE high ISO (thank you Nikon).... and certainly don't need fast for a landscape camera. It really is merging into medium format ........ but photog beware, according to Bj’*‚„’‚‚¸rn, any photog mistakes will greatly show.... in other words.... steady tripod, correct focus techniques... do it all right.... then be prepared for DETAIL extraordinaire!
It will be a long time before I can think about this bad boy though....Carolyn

Soooooo, maybe you should point out to her, that she should spend on you what you did on her.. ... I mean, fair is fair ’‚’‚…‚’‚‚‚‚ right? And just think how much you'll LOVE her for it

I've had my pictures printed 30x40 with my Nikon D70 6mpx, at least 20 so far.
I wasn't the one who printed it, It was the art dealer that did but it looked great.
As long as the picture is in focus all the way through, it will work fine with a 6, 10, or 12.
I'm guessing that if you need to print any larger than 30x40 you would have to have 12mpx or higher

Ruth, it's not so much the size, as the detail that shows throughout a large depth of field. Think medium format. Testing is showing that is holds. It picks up much more detail than possible before in an slr. You can print a 6mp print 20x30... but it won't have the detail that a 12mp print will have. Now go to 24.5. You are getting 1.4x the amount of information here. That is why this camera is being heralded as a Landscape / Portrait photog camera.
PS... I'm not talking about getting large things sharp and in focus, but rather individual pine needles on trees miles away...Last edited by shootem; Dec 24th, 2008 at 09:59 AM.
