    Food For Thought....

Here is a link to an article about learning to look at our work with a critical eye...

Someone (not here) recently said "if you want ooos and ahhhs, show your picture to your mom"

Learning to accept and give solid critique is a great step to becoming a better photographer. Many times there is a great story behind "getting" the shot.... Others viewing aren't affected by this... separating our emotions from our work is another tough but important step.

Carolyn, very interesting article and a very, very interesting site if you want to learn about lighting.

I try to put myself outside of my photographs and I like to think I'm getting better at it but it's still a bit hit and miss. I do find I now catch myself more often when I'm thinking "what do they mean they don't like the f.g. piece...?" It pulls me up and reminds me to step back.

I find what helps me realize how far I have to go before "great" really applies is to look at the work of top notch photographers and there are examples of that at the website you reference. I have long been an admirer of the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson. That is great photography so far as I'm concerned.

Nice to see you here, always.

Interesting to see so many views and so few repiies.

I guess I'm the only one who struggles with the issue of falling in love with one's own perfume.

The website Carolyn shows had a ton of good information about lighting. I do want to thank you for that, Carolyn - I haven't ventured much into that side of photography but I think it's time to start.
