    Shooting in RAW

I started using RAW with my D100. Based on conversations with other D100 users, I then use the Nikon Capture editor to post process and convert to a tiff on Photoshop. This was taken at 55mm f5 1/100sec ISO =200 Matrix metering. I then did levels and some sharpening in Nikon Capture. copied it to Photoshop where I converted to 8 bit mode, sized it and saved it as a jpg to move to the web, Post processing in NEF format in 12 bit mode seems a lot better than in jpg. Enjoy.

Ed - I am new to using RAW with my Olympus E-10. After using the Olympus (free) plugin to PS I have concluded that it is worth the price and the only real and superior option is to buy ($99) and use the Adobe plugin for your specific camera. Converting to TIF is not a substitute. With the Adobe plugin you can recreate the original RAW camera exposure before you load it up for edit. Magic!

If you like working in RAW, you will probably want the Adobe plug-in for RAW and JPEG 2000. It is much better than the free photoshop plug-in you get with capture/view.
