    2x lens

I just bought a 2x lens for my sigma 70-300 and it won't focus. Even manually the images are never sharp. Does this just mean that the sigma lens and the 2x adapter are not compatible or is there a way to fix this? Thanks for the help!

    Matt,

I have a Minolta 70-300mm lens that I occasionaly use a 2X converter with. It will not work with autofocus, so everything is manual. The focusing is VERY touchy. It took me a long time to get the hang of it. Also, remember that you doubled your focal length, so any camera shake is also magnified greatly. A good rule of thumb is a shutter speed the reciprical of the focal length, so try not to use it under a shutter speed of 1/600. That's tough to do, which for me is the greatest drawback of the converter. Keep working with it, you might still be suprised. I have some bird shots at:

Most all were taken with the telecoverter, but in very bright sun and a tripod. Hope this helps.
