Staples Launches First Ever ''Hometown Views'' Photo Contest; Asks Amateur Photographers to Put Their Hometown in Focus

Approximately 40 regional finalists will be selected and will receive prizes, which may include Staples gift cards and royalties of up to $5,000 from photos sold in over 1,300 Staples stores. I wonder what their definition of amature is.
Some think the first time you sell even one photo it makes you a pro, we all know thats not true

5. ELIGIBILITY: Open to residents of the U.S., who are 18 years of age or older as of March 15, 2007. [C1]To be eligible you must be an amateur photographer, meaning you have not received any compensation for any photographs you have taken in the past five years.
That excludes a huge list of people.
Many photographers I know have sold at least 1 photo to someone in the past 5 years if they are a serious amateur.


Dont they realize that amateur means that photography isnt your soul source of income?
